John Smith Gumbula

JOHN SMITH GUMBULA began his unique inspiring artistic creative journey in the winter of 1978 at the age of 10 from a hospital bed, diagnosed with a spinal medical condition called Scheuermann's disease. John is a Cultural Ambassador and has been passionate in the arts, cultural affairs, education, tech, and innovation, advocating for Indigenous people, and culture for over 3 decades, 'creating cultural bridges of understanding on a world stage'.
A recipient of the 'QEII Silver Jubilee Queens Trust Awrdee', and a proud WakkaWakka | GurangGurang/GorengGoreng First Nations people of Queensland, & adopted Son of the traditional Yolngu people of Galiwinku, Elcho Island, NT Australia. On his late mother's side, John also has an ancient bloodline of Celtic Irish, & Scottish Heritage.
